Pre-Wrath

November 9th, 2008 by sinizuh

Just an update on my Master Plan:

Main #1: Death Knight on Emerald Dream

Main #2: Paladin on Hellscream

Alt #1: Priest on Emerald Dream

Alt #2: Hunter on Earthen Ring

Hmm looks like my Shaman might be taking the back burner… Either him or Priest. Since my DK will be main on that server, really doesn’t matter.

But boy oh boy, it’s almost time and it’s getting exciting!

When the ghouls come out

Hallow’s End is in full swing. Everyone is running all over Azeroth (mostly to SM Graveyard).

Not so headless Siofreya

Been working on getting my achievements for the event. I need Pet + Pumpkin helm for the achievement. Hell, the horse mount would be freakin’ awesome.

I’ve also been running around getting my explorer achievement and working on my low end quests for my Exalted home city achievement. Been going pretty good. They also increase rep for timbermaw, so maybe I’ll work on getting those guys as well.

PTR 3.0: It’s all about Paladins

October 11th, 2008 by sinizuh

I copied my 3 max level characters over to the public testing realm to test out the new 3.0 patch (which is going live on tuesday) and here’s what I found.

Paladin: Oh god. This made me just love tanking even more. First instance I ran was Heroic Magister’s Terrace. After multiple groups on live servers telling me that my gear isn’t good enough, I decided to try it out with the new changes. It was the fastest run in an instance I’ve run (Ret Paladin, Balance Druid, Prot Paladin, Afflication Warlock and Resto Druid). We used no CC and we plowed through it. We only “wiped” (someone bubbled the druid and they res’d us. yes, they get out of combat res now!) at third boss because the warrior AoE feared us and healer died instantly. But as soon as we locked him down, it was easy and we finished up the instance (we then 5 man onyxia. lol)

I also ran a pug Karazhan (all bosses down in less than 2 hours), pug Gruul (KHM was so stupid) and pug ZA (only got 3 bosses and then people had to go). During karazhan, it didn’t even feel like I had to work to keep agro. I just walked into the instance, and all NPCs hated me.

Shaman: PEW PEW. That’s the sound of my Elemental Shaman. I was pushing out some pretty impressive numbers with my pathetic gear haha. I didn’t really do anything special, I just did some DPS tests against the testing targets set up in the capitals. Big crits happening very often and when I get clearcasting, my shocks only cost 25-30 mana :D Hopefully I can get some nice gear on this toon later on (and in Wrath)

Priest:
I linked to the disc spec because shadow was so painful to play. I don’t know what it is about it. It didn’t feel on par, and was missing something. I didn’t do much with this toon either. I took it out side of stormwind and healed players that were dueling. I don’t know what I’m going to do with this toon. Maybe I’ll put it on the shelf (again) and replace it with my Death Knight.

Overall: It’s going to be a great patch for a lot of people (not so much for a couple). Arenas will be closed for a while, so hopefully I can get some really good heroic/raid runs on my paladin in during the next couple of weeks before Wrath comes out.

Fighting robots instead of humans

TL;DR: Arenas against PVE bosses from classic or TBC, scaled up to 80 for PVE arena points (to use towards gear)

It’s a pretty good idea on paper, but trying to develop it and put it in game is pretty hard. Putting in a PVE arena (as described) would ruin instances and other PVE content. They improved the idea behind 5mans to being only about 60 mins in length in WotLK. Time isn’t an issue anymore, no matter how casual you are.

But if you twist the idea around, they might be able to fit in lore and game dynamics. Make it a 5-man icecrown instance. Kind of a “Ring of Law” in BRD, but Lich King hosts it. He gives a nice little speech about us fighting some notable foes in the past, and he’s added them to his army. The event begins.

5 random humanoids (from a list of like 12-20 famous mobs/bosses from Classic WoW and TBC). They are released on a timer (royal rumble?), so if you don’t defeat them fast enough, they’ll just stack on top of each other.
It’s probably the easiest way to implement the idea of “fighting old enemies” without messing up anything badly.

Can just imagine going up against: Rend Blackhand, Edwin VanCleef, Balnazzar, Blackheart the Inciter and Jin’do the Hexxer. Sure, it would be chaotic, but I never said it would be easy.

Are you ready? [ Yes / No ]

Just a first post to start things off. I updated the “About” page with all the backstory, but you seem like the person who has “Instant quest text” turn on, so…

TL;DR – I’ve played WoW for a long time. Quit many times. Played mostly healers. I hate healing raids.

Anyways, this will be updated whenever I can. Maybe you’ll learn, maybe you’ll laugh, maybe you won’t know what I’m talking about., but enjoy the show.
